So, what do you say we all start letting go and begin to trust in ourselves? Let’s leave everything we have learned behind in order to learn again.
Something remarkable happens when we recognize our talents. By accepting ourselves as we are, we realize that we do not need to be perfect in everything we do. Once we recognize this, we can begin to empty the heavy backpack of perfection we carry, including all the stones that we have filled it with since we were children — behave well, be good boys and girls, get good grades. Even when we become adults, we continue to believe that we must be perfect, that we must be good at everything…including being perfect parents.
I know I was trying to be the perfect mother, the perfect wife and, even the perfect accountant! It was an impossible task.
We are unique beings. We are all born with talents and skills that no one else can do. When I accepted my talents, I accepted myself as I am. At that moment, I no longer needed to look for security outside of myself. It no longer mattered what others thought of me. I didn’t even care if others recognized what I did, or if they liked me or accepted me.
When I realized I didn’t need to be perfect, I talked to the members of the accounting firm where I worked at that time, and I told them I was going to stop doing tax research. It was not using my talents. They were surprised and reminded me that I was exceptionally good at the work. I told them it didn’t matter because I didn’t love it. Besides, there were other people who enjoyed the work. They were the ones who should be doing it. And because they loved their work, they were far more effective at the job than me. My talents were better suited to preparing taxes or working in accounting.
I realized that the things I was good at, I could do much better than other people — faster and more effectively. The reason was simply because I was passionate about the work. I loved that part of my job.
When I eventually made the “crazy” decision to open my own accounting firm, customers began to appear from everywhere and anywhere, usually because someone had referred my services to them. Most of them had tax-related issues. At the end of the audits, customers were finding that they had to pay a lot less than they had expected, or not pay anything at all. Some had even received refunds. They could not believe it. I also couldn’t believe the results I was obtaining representing them before the government of the United States.
You want to attract more customers?
Let your profession be the reflection and expression of the best you can give. Don’t settle for less! This will feed the virtuous spiral of inspiration — realization — more inspiration — greater realization. And while you prosper financially (and you will), people will also perceive the energy of enthusiasm in your realizations and will pay to be close to that influence. They won’t know what draws them to you or your business, but they will be attracted just the same.
Now, at this moment, you could be one of those people who work purely for the money, sacrificing your passion to receive a paycheck. You may think no one notices this, but let me tell you, people notice. After all, you notice it in others, right?
Or you could be one of those rare individuals who truly love what they do, conveying a vibration of joy and confidence, which leads you to do a better job, which not only makes your customers more satisfied but more likely to continue using your services.
So, what group will you join? The choice is yours.
Will you be someone who is eternally worried and unsatisfied? Will you be someone who only works for the money, and is always forced to draw upon the intellect, in a heavy effort to get ahead? Or will you be one of the happy people who flow with inspiration and abundance?
You decide! But remember, if you decide to choose the first group, your secret is not safe. People have a sixth sense when it comes to individuals who work only for the money. It makes them feel uncomfortable.
Let’s reprogram now! After all, the success we are looking for is within us, and to access it, all we have to do is begin trusting ourselves.
Your passion is your compass. Follow it, let go, and trust.
